NEW grants for Tanoma [22. Jun. 2010 - 08:27]
We are very excited to be able to tell you that we have been awarded three grants this year so far to improve our Tanoma AMD Wetlands Site.
First is a grant from the Indiana Endowment/The Pittsburgh Foundation for the building materials for an ADA path along our wetlands trail. The work and equipment will be donated to complete this project. Work on the path will be started in June. This will allow easier access for people to visit and learn about the outdoors.
The other two grants are from The Dominion Foundation for $3,900.00 and from Penelec SEF for $5,500.00. Both these grants will be used to build a renewable energy demonstration project at Tanoma. The project will include a wind turbine, water turbine and solar panels. This will power a fountain in one of the cells to help iron drop out of the water and will power lighting in the pavilion. We will also be able to do educational programs about renewable energy and practical use for the homeowner.
